So you have decided to start a Wordpress blog? Maybe you have been using Wordpress for years and are now ready to drive more traffic to it through the social media. The good news is that you won’t have to know any programming or write a single line of code. There are plenty of powerful social media plugins that enable you to add buttons, widgets, and other tools to your posts to give you readers a chance to promote your top posts. As a blogger, you should pick and choose the communities that you want your readers to submit your posts too. Not every social networking site will work for your blog, so why not focus on those that do? I personally focus on Delicious, StumbleUpon, Twitter, and Facebook. I have tested Google Buzz on a few of my websites, but my main focus is on those 4 services. If you too are interested in making your blog more social friendly and get more traffic from those sites, here are 5 top social media WP plugins you should look at:

Digg Digg: one of the best social media plugins for Wordpress platform. It covers almost any social network that matters. Delicious, StumbleUpon, Google Buzz, and Digg are all covered by this plugin.

Tweetmeme: a simple to use plugin that adds Tweetmeme buttons to your blog. Twitter is one of the best sources of traffic for blogs, which is why this plugin is worth a serious consideration.

Fixed Social Plugin is an amazing little plugin that is worth a try for anyone who’s looking to get more exposure for his/her content on sites such as Facebook, StumbleUpon, and other top sites. Adds social media buttons to your blog in a manner that can’t go unnoticed by your visitors.

Buzrr: a cool shiny plugin for Wordpress that installs a Google Buzz counter on your blog. As I mentioned earlier, it’s tough to say how big of a player Google Buzz is going to be, but it’s worth testing.

WP Greet: a very useful plugin lets you keep track of who’s coming to your blog from where and display a message on the top of your posts accordingly. Useful for targeting your users based on their referring URL. Just watch its memory usage if you decide to install it.

These points are very easy but this point if you can then be patient archive your target step by step and I am sure your Google AdSense Income should increase.

1. Pick a product Keyword

- I use product keywords because you get a higher Earning per click in AdSense when you target these types of “buyer keywords”
- Another reason I use them is because it is easy to write a product review
- Example: “car seats for toddlers”

2. Find 2 other related Long tail keyword

- I then try to find 2 other keywords that have my original keyword in it but also have a brand
- Example: If my keyword was “car seats for toddlers” I would use “evenflo car seats for toddlers”

3. Research Competition and CPC

- I go to the google keyword tool listed here https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal and check out the CPC of all of my keywords
- I try to target only keywords with a CPC of $1 or more
- I put my keyword into google and get the top 10 results
- I take all 10 Urls and put them into yahoo site explorer to see how many backlinks they have
- If out of the top 10 most have more than 100 backlinks I will find new keywords

4. Use a simple and Clean Theme

- I use a very simple and clean theme that has a good Click through rate
- An example of a good theme is here www.carseatsfortoddlers.info

5. Write about 400 words of content on your product

- I write about 400 words of content about each keyword on separate pages
- If your wondering what to write about why not write it in a product review fashion?

6. Build 30 backlinks each week to each page until you are ranked

- I write articles about my products and submit to ezine, do blog commenting, and social bookmark

7. Add Adsense once you are ranked

- I wait until I am ranked to add AdSense so I get a higher payout

8. Rinse and Repeat X 30 = 100/day

9. My favorite step – Enjoy the Profits!

I know most of you will skip this article thinking its does not hold much importance, but I recommend you all to read this article at least one. You will loose nothing but gain something. I’ve seen many articles that are very well written but not well presented. In order, this should not happen to you, here is my today’s article where I’ll tell you some points that will help you to write a good blog post. Lets start :

Write eye catching post title

If you are on Wordpress, you can write two titles for a single post. First title to catch readers attention and second title for search engine optimization. When selecting a heading for your article make sure it is short and attractive. Heading should be interesting and should match the post content. This will increase the click through rate and will get more page visits.

Make post title SEO friendly

As told above, Wordpress helps you to write two post titles. How ? I’ll tell you. You can do it by installing a plugin called All in One SEO (click here to download). It allows you to write a different post title for search engines.

After writing your article, you can write another title, meta description and give meta tags by navigating the same page below, this is what you will see :

Now, the question is what is an Search Engine friendly post title. Below are two post titles for a single post :

Amazing Waterfall Pix

Amazing Waterfall images

Which is better in terms of search engines ? The answer is the second one because it includes the word “images” that is more commonly used and searched than the word “pix”. So, in this way always use those words in post title that are commonly searched.

Short introduction

You article’s introduction should be of 5-6 lines not more than that. Always remember that you’ve only one chance to impress your readers through your article , so the introduction should not be too long that your reader loose interest in your article. To,make the introductory paragraph more attractive you can give related link to previous articles and can also add thumbnails.

No grammatical and spelling mistakes

Well, your article should not have any grammatical and spelling mistake, by default Wordpress gives an option to run a spell check and includes 11 languages. Have a look :

Is the content already written ?

Before writing any post make a search and confirm that the content you are writing is new or already discussed in “xyz” blog. If it is already discussed then gather some new points and make your article new and spicy by adding those points. There is no use of rewriting same content again.

Ask for comments and feedback

In order to interact with your readers always ask for comments and feedback in the end of the post. This will help you to get more comments to your post.

Use bullets

Always remember one thing, no ones likes to read that long paragraphs, so always try to write short and in points. Try it once and your readers will enjoy reading your article.

Give screenshots

To make your post more appealing always start your post with a matching screenshot. You can search for images from Flickr. Do not forget to give credits.

Re-read your blog post

It is good to read your post at least 3-4 times before publishing it. It it my personal experience that while reading your post you will get alot of new ideas on how to improve it.

In my last article I told you about 70 tips to get traffic to your blog, so here is another “70 list” tips that will help you to make your blog design better. The points will be not be that elaborated but I’ll cover all the points in detail in my future articles. Lets start :

Choose white colored background template

Place search box at the top in navigation bar

Have a good blog typography (I recommend Verdana fonts)

Have an attractive logo/banner

Always use different color or hyperlinks

Template should be two or three column

Before applying the template make sure you cross check it in different browsers

You must display post author, category, tags and date before or after the post

Use percent instead of pixels

Use a good color scheme (you can take help from ColorCombos)

Compress CSS code, use CSS Compress plugin to compress CSS code

Always have three or four column footer

Use paging

Use small size graphics

Avoid using Flash

Do not add music

Do not add unnecessary badges

Avoid marquee tag (looks very unprofessional)

Avoid blink tag (again looks very unprofessional)

Avoid adding Google ads inside content (it will irritate readers)

Do not overuse Bold tag

Avoid Gif images (it takes a lot of time too load)
